LEGENDS and FABLES
Folklore was the way of handing down customs and beliefs down through the years. The stories our ancestors made up to explain things they did not understand were called myths, legends, and fables. The MYTH was about life, death, and the forces of nature, usually the heros of myths were gods and goddesses. FABLES tell people how they should live. One fable is the story of the hare and the tortoise. The LEGEND is usually based on truth or sometimes partly true like the stories of King Arthur and the Knights of the round table. Many events of history are found in legends. The Fairy Tale was usually told to children for entertainment and contained stories of good and evil. Many of our ballads and poems contain folklore.
